POCO M2 Pro At A Glance: Did Anyone Ask To Feel The Surge?

POCO is the brand behind the infamous POCO F1. The flagship phone that came with Snapdragon 845 at an unbelievable price that shook the users and disrupted the market.  POCO M2 Pro is their 3rd device under the POCO brand.

In 2020 POCO started its operations and services independently and launched the POCO X2. A device aimed at providing better overall hardware that is stable yet gives neck to neck competition when compared to POCO F1. POCO X2 not only listened to the user’s feedback but also came up with a better smartphone in the sub 15-20k price bracket.

The POCO M2 Pro:

POCO today has launched the POCO M2 Pro in India that focuses on more price-conscious userbase and offers a great value in that price segment.

Build & Design:

POCO M2 Pro

The Poco M2 Pro measures 165.75 x 76.68 x 8.80mm and weighs around 209g. It was launched in Out of the Blue, Green, and Greener, and Two Shades of Black colors.


The Poco M2 Pro has an attractive dual-color design and is built well, thanks to glass sandwich design and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 Protection. But it also resembles very close to the Redmi Note 9 which was launched in global markets. On examining both phones side by side, they appear to have the same body. Everything, including the buttons, ports, hole-punch in the display, and the rear camera bump, lines up perfectly. The camera module has also had some cosmetic changes. The M2 Pro features a P2i water-repellent coating, which makes it capable of holding minor splashes and dust.

On the display front, the device comes with a 6.67-inch punch-hole display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels with a pixel density of 395 pixels per inch (PPI) and an aspect ratio of 20:9.

Performance & Hardware:

Poco M2 Pro is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor that features 2 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and 6 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It comes with either 4 or 6 GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage.

Software:

The device runs on ad free MIUI For POCO 11 that is built on top of Android 10 and is aimed at getting MIUI 12 soon. The device comes out of the box with the latest Android 10 and will also get Android 11 update when it is released.

Cameras:

The Poco M2 Pro has a quad-camera array, which includes a primary 48-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth camera. We also get a 16-megapixel hole-punch selfie camera.

The device also comes with a bunch of camera-centric features as well like Night mode for both rear and front camera, Pro mode in both photo and videos, movie mode, AI portrait mode, 960FPS slow-motion video, 1080p video recording up to 60FPS and 4k video recording as well, but only up to 30FPS.

The POCO M2 Pro has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that’s embedded along with the power button. It supports face unlock as well.

Battery & Charging:

The POCO M2 Pro comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery that charges with a 33W fast charger included in the box. Poco says it should provide a 50-percent charge in 30 minutes.

Pricing & Availability:

The official price of POCO M2 Pro in India is set at Rs 13,999 for 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant, Rs 14,999 for 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant while its 6GB/128GB Storage variant is priced at Rs 16,999.
The device will be available in three colors: Green And Greener, Two Shades Of Black & Out Of The Blue.

POCO M2 Pro will exclusively be available on Flipkart for the time being and the first flash sale will take place on 14th July 2020
