Last year Xiaomi launched the Alpha flagship Redmi K20 & K20 Pro (Flagship Killer 2.0) which was successor to the insanely popular POCO F1 which was a groundbreaking device in its price segment and turned up heads towards it. Xiaomi’s sub-brand left an indelible mark in the smartphone industry in 2018, and while the hardware spoke for itself, what stood out was the fact that Xiaomi pulled off such a feat in the first place. Redmi K30 Pro launched in China today as an online event. In addition to the Redmi K30 Pro, Xiaomi also launched the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition in today’s event

Redmi K30 Pro has finally goes official. The new budget flagship from the Redmi is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC, the more efficient LPDDR5 RAM, support for 33W fast charging, and vapour chamber cooling among others. Additionally, the company has also launched the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition. Just as the company had teased earlier, the two phones come equipped with a quad rear camera setup sitting in a circular camera module and a pop-up selfie camera. Notably, both the main 64-megapixel camera and the telephoto lens are optically stabilised, ensuring smoother videos and blur-free photos.

Build & Design:
Unlike the K20 Pro, the K30 & K30 Pro are visually quite a bit different from its predecessor, which had a totally unique and eye-catching look and looked very premium. This time the Redmi K30 Pro also looks similar to its sibling the Redmi K30 with simple yet suttle glass back design.
There’s a circular camera module with four lenses arranged in a square, and Xiaomi has also brought back the pop-up selfie camera as opposed to the regular K30’s hole-punch cutout. Xiaomi also claims that there is some kind of water proof/resistant IP rating
As it is powered by lastest Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC, expect amazing performance in normal day to day tasks, gaming and rendering stuff. It is also equipped with LPDDR 5 RAM so expect smooth and seamless multitasking.
The display has 6.67 inch screen is a 1080p AMOLED panel with HDR10+, although it looks like the refresh rate is a standard 60Hz, which is a major drawback because nowadays people are used to high refresh rate displays even on budget phones like the Redmi K30 (which was launched in India as the POCO X2) and also the Realme 6 series puts it out of step with most 2020 flagship phones and even mid-rangers.
Display:
The display looks just amazing thanks to the bezel-less display made possible only because of the pop-up selfie camera like we saw on the K20 series last year.As the display is HDR 10 certified so expect the presence of Widevine L1 certification which is necessary for running content in HD from partners like Netflix,Amazon Prime,Disney+,Hotstar etc.

Camera:
On the camera side of things we get a quad-camera array setup which has a 64-megapixel primary sensor (Sony IMX686), a 13-megapixel ultrawide, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel telephoto that also has macro capabilities. Xiaomi is particularly talking up the magnification ability of that last camera, though a higher end “zoom edition” of the phone swaps it out for a telephoto that can shoot up to 30x hybrid zoom.
The camera is also capable of recording in 8K just like the one found on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Series but on this things get even better as this device can shoot 8k at 30fps.
Powering this device is a 4,700mAh battery with support 33W (charger is included in the box) with fast charging over USB-C. Xiaomi also claims the K30 Pro has a much better haptic feedback system powered by a linear motor which is found on the Redmi Note 9 Pro & Note 9 Pro Max.
Good thing is that the device still retains the headphone jack along with Hi-Fi DAC integrated in it.
Other things include Wi-Fi 6,IR Blaster, bluetooth 5 and NFC (which we doubt will be available in the Global/Indian Varient) as Xiaomi has a habit of skipping support for NFC feature in Indian markets.
Highlights:
- Snapdragon 865 With 5G Modem Integrated
- Liquid Cooling
- AMOLED Display
- SONY IMX 686
- Headphone Jack
- Huge battery with fast charging support
- Wi-Fi 6
- IR Sensor

As for the pricing is concerned the range starts at 2,999 yuan ($425) for a K30 Pro with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
